RUB
RUB (ver 4.6x) copyright 1996 PEN*DRAGON ELECTRONICS (All Rights Reserved)
RUB is a file removal utility for DOS.
RUB has been tested on the following systems:
DOS 3.3 - DOS 7
WIN 3.1 - WIN 95
OS/2 2.0 - WARP 4
RUB was built to make file removal EASY and PERMANENT (keep that in mind).
RUB is not intended to replace the dos function DEL. It is recomended that
you use RUB when you really don't want anybody to see that file again.
Cautions:
RUB ignores the read-only flag.
RUB is fully capable of removing system files after the /SYSTEM switch
is enabled and/orin a tree removal.
RUB is also capable of removing hidden files after the /H switch and/or in
a tree removal.
RUB ignores the directory locking function in a tree removal.
RUBLOCK will only affect RUB. All other file utilities will work
normaly.
After you RUB it out, you won't get it back.
Notes:
RUB will proccess all funcional command line switches in the order
they come.
RUB can be stopped safely at any time by pressing "ctrl c" or
"ctrl break".
The current file will be closed and the FAT will be updated correctly
(better than DEL).
RUB is a file removal utility that is designed to be both powerfull
and easy to use.
..............................................................................
RUB command-line switches:
C:\>RUB [file] /tree [directory] /3 [file] /lock /1 [file]
/TREE......[target directory] RUB directories
/SYSTEM....RUB system files
/[0 - 9]...number of over-writes for each file (default:1)
/H.........RUB hidden files
/?.........command line options
/P.........prompt for each file or directory
/LOCK......to lock the current directory (RUBLOCK)
/UNLOCK....unlocks the current directory
/PROD......about RUB
/TREE
RUB will remove any directory specified following this switch.
Only one directory can be specified per /TREE switch.
The current directory CAN be removed.
/SYSTEM
This will turn on RUB's ability to RUB system files.
c:\>RUB c:\*.txt /system c:\dos\*.io
Would first remove any file in the root\home directory with
the extension '.txt' excluding HIDDEN and SYSTEM files.
Then RUB would remove any file in the c:\dos directory with
the '.io' extention including any SYSTEM files with the '.io'
extention.
Once the switch is enabled, it cannot be disabled untill RUB
terminates.
Normally, system files are ignored. Hence the wild card
c:\>RUB *.*
would still leave any system files.
/[0 - 9]
Tells RUB how many times to over-write the file.
Default is one (1) times over-write.
This switch can be used multiple times.
c:\>RUB read.me /7 fred.pgp /0 instruc.doc ivp.exe
Would first remove 'read.me' with 1 times over-write.
Second RUB will remove 'fred.pgp' with 7 times over-write.
Then RUB will remove 'instruc.doc' and 'ivp.exe' with 0 over-writes.
/H
This turns on RUB's ability to remove HIDDEN files.
/? or /HELP
This will give a brief description on RUB usage.
/P
This option will force RUB to promt you for each file
or directory removal. {y=yes, n=no, a=abort}
/LOCK, /UNLOCK
This will tag\untag the current directory.
RUB will not remove any files in a locked directory.
NOTE: THE LOCK FUNCTION IS IGNORED IN A TREE REMOVAL.
